Deciding to buy or sell a home together can be an extremely exciting process for couples, but a survey conducted online by The Harris Poll, sponsored by Zillow, reveals that both transactions are often fraught with contradictions.
The vast majority (77 percent) of people who have gone through the process of buying a house state that they have discussed this issue with the person they are with. Similarly, the majority of those who are in the process of selling a house with their partner (71 percent) admit that they frequently argue about the issue and even wear out their relationship.
More than half of those who argue with their lpartners about the purchasing process can’t agree on important issues such as the size of the house to be purchased, its style, essential features, and the features it offers.
Among other disagreements, the location preference and the budget to be allocated stand out.
Since these discussions are seen in millennials rather than 55 and older, it turns out that life experience can help reduce the tension that a home sale can create.
The majority (69 percent) of couples arguing over the process of selling a home are arguing with at least one of these three financial decisions:
– At what price the house will be sold
– Lowering the price
– Accepting an offer
Many also argue about the following difficulties of a traditional selling:
– Whether to make repairs (24 percent)
– Potential buyers (24 percent)
– Uncertainty about whether the house will be sold (21 percent)
Other interesting results of the study are as follows:
– More than a third of house sellers cry when their house is sold
– Most experience less stress even when fired or planning a wedding
