Real Estate Listings Shared on Social Media Will Also Be Monitored

The new regulation for real estate listings will now cover not only real estate websites but also advertisements posted on social media platforms. Due to the increasing number of deposit frauds and fake listings, the government has introduced a verified listing system. Starting from September 15, 2024, homeowners who want to rent or sell their properties via e-Government must authorize a real estate agent. Only authorized agents will be able to post these listings.

As of January 1, 2025, this practice will become mandatory, meaning that unauthorized agents will not be able to post listings. Agents who obtain authorization and post listings before this date will be distinguished by a special logo indicating their authorization, making them more trustworthy and preferred.

Social Media Listings Will Also Be Subject to Monitoring
Hacı Ali Taylan, President of the Federation of Turkish Real Estate Consultants, clarified that there is a misconception that real estate listings will only be posted through an electronic listing system. He emphasized that the regulation is a measure against manipulations in online advertisements.

Taylan also mentioned that illegal listings will be prevented through this system, and that discussions with the Ministry of Trade are ongoing. He added that the request from real estate agents to remove the parcel information requirement has been communicated to the ministry, and they expect this requirement to be lifted. Listings on social media will also be included in this regulation.
