The Lycian Way: from Fethiye to Antalya
According to the Culture Routes Society, which waymarks the trail, the Lycian Way is a 760-kilometre footpath from Fethiye to Antalya that takes about 29 days to walk; it starts at Ölüdeniz and ends at Geyikbayırı. The route was researched, designed and marked with yellow-red waymarks in 1999 by the British/Turkish amateur historian Kate Clow; the best seasons are spring (February–May) and autumn (September–November). The Türkiye Culture Portal describes the Lycian Way as Türkiye's first long-distance hiking route and gives its length as about 540 kilometres; the portal states that the route starts at Ölüdeniz and ends at Geyikbayırı west of Konyaaltı, that the whole takes about a month to walk, and that the paths are ancient roads linking Lycian cities, renewed in the Roman period under Emperor Claudius. The two institutions give different lengths; because of route updates we report the difference as it stands. Source: Türkiye Culture Portal, accessed 08.10.2026
